The latest chapter of Loyalty Fallen is now live. You can read chapter 15 here.
In this chapter, Kathryn and her friends meet Cal, a healer with an incredibly shy and frightened disposition, and try to convince him to save Ren’s life.
If you are new to Loyalty Fallen, my serialized fantasy novel, you can read the preview here.
Loyalty Fallen tells the story of a banished princess named Kathryn and her loyal bodyguard as they face threats from all sides on their journey to prevent another devastating war.
I upload a new chapter every Tuesday at 5:00 PM PST, so subscribe to the blog to get a reminder every time a new chapter goes live.
Also, I wanted to share a bit about the development of the music that accompanies Loyalty Fallen, which you can find on my YouTube channel.
While I’ve only written a few songs so far, I have quite a few more in development.
The goal was to create songs that cover every major character moment and event in the story, but considering that the story crosses three books that will each be over 70,000 words, it will be a major undertaking.
Still, I’ve already made some progress and I’m enjoying the whole thing immensely. My goal is to pick instruments and styles that I believe best express each character.
For example, Illian is a cello. This represents his somewhat darker, deeper personality compared to many of the other characters.
Dorian is a bass fiddle. He’s pretty much rotten to the core. (I actually like bass fiddle though.)
Kathryn is usually represented by a piano, though the piano is also just the central instrument in nearly all the pieces.
The high oboe is Trista’s instrument.
Ren is a cheerful flute.
When writing the instrumentals, I change the lead instrument depending on who is singing.
More on this to come soon.
In the meantime, check out the channel and let me know what you think. Note that the songs are completely out of order though, and there are only a couple of them uploaded yet.
Most of all, enjoy Loyalty Fallen!
