There are just three more days before the first ten chapters of Loyalty Fallen go live, after which the rest of the story will be serialized here on the website. In preparation, I will be publishing a blog post each day to count down to the publication. Enjoy learning more about Loyalty Fallen’s world and characters!
1. Navinor:
Topography: Primarily coastal, with a few smaller islands off the main coast, making it ideal for trade routes. Sandy beaches to the south, with rugged cliffs up north.
Main Trade Goods: Sapphires, seafood, pearls, naval technology, spices from overseas trade, and textile products.
Political Structure: Monarchy, advised by a council of prominent merchants and naval admirals.
Folk Stories: The Song of the Sirens: It’s said that on moonlit nights, one can hear the ethereal songs of sirens. The myth claims they once tried to lure the first king of Navinor into the depths. He resisted their call, and in gratitude for his strong will, they blessed the kingdom with bountiful seas.
The Dance of the Moonlit Cove:
Location: A hidden cove, known as Silver Crescent Cove.
Story: It’s said that every decade, during a particular lunar eclipse, ethereal figures emerge from the waters and dance on the sands of this cove.
Historical Event: The Treaty of Tidal Peaks: Years ago, Navinor faced blockades from rival naval powers across the sea. They signed a historic treaty on the northern cliffs, ensuring free trade and forming alliances. This trade with the Far Kingdoms is what allowed Navinor to support its military efforts throughout two wars with Iridalys.
Class System:
Sea Lords: The elite naval admirals and merchant lords.
Traders: Those involved in overseas trade and commerce.
Fishermen and Craftsmen: The backbone of the local economy.
Islanders: Often marginalized, they reside on smaller islands and have their own subculture.
2. Iridalys:
Topography: Mountainous regions interspersed with dense forests. The mountains hide precious gem mines.
Main Trade Goods: Precious stones (especially opals), metals, timber, and herbs.
Political Structure: Strict monarchy, where a single ruler’s word is law. They’re often advised by miners’ guilds and forest chieftains.
Folk Story: Opal Woods: Legend has it that the forests of Iridalys whisper secrets to those who listen. An ancient queen once heeded these whispers and discovered the first opal mine.
The Spirit of Verdant Falls:
Location: Verdant Waterfall, a hidden cascade within the deepest forest.
Story: An ancient guardian spirit resides here, ensuring the forest’s growth and presiding over a hoard of verdant opals. Lumberjacks and miners avoid the cascade, for it’s believed harming its sanctity will result in a year of misfortune.
Historical Event: The Miner’s Revolt: There was once a ruler who was greedy and over-exploited the miners. They rebelled, leading to reforms in mining practices.
Class System:
Mountain Lords: The elite who control the mines.
Woodland Chiefs: Leaders of forest tribes, guardians of forest secrets.
Miners and Loggers: The labor force, respected but often overworked.
Herb Gatherers: Often overlooked, they have a deep knowledge of the forest flora.
3. Tephraya / Desert Kingdom:
Topography: Expansive deserts, punctuated by oasis cities and ancient ruins. Some rocky canyons provide a break from the endless sand.
Main Trade Goods: Slaves, spices, desert fruits, and precious artifacts found in ruins.
Political Structure: Council of tribal leaders overseeing oasis cities. However, the overarching power lies with a single dominant ruler (like Tarik).
Folk Story:
The Mirage City
Location: Westernmost Dunes, the hottest and most dangerous part of the desert.
Story: A golden city, built by the first desert settlers, is said to appear in the mirages here. It holds treasures and knowledge but disappears as one approaches, symbolizing the elusive nature of desert wealth.
Historical Event: The War of Sands: Several tribes once united against an external invader, which was the foundation of Tephraya’s current political structure. After the victory, the power struggle led to the rise of slave trading as the primary economy.
Class System:
Desert Lords: Those close to the ruling power, major slave owners.
Oasis Chieftains: Control the oasis cities and their trade.
Nomadic Tribes: Free people roaming the deserts, occasionally clashing with the Desert Lords.
Slaves: The unfortunate backbone of the economy, often captured from wars and raids.
